Former Kearney Bearcat and UNK Loper Men’s Basketball player Kanon Koster earned his first conference weekly award with a career high performance last week.
Sunshine State Conference Athletes of the Week are chosen from a pool of nominees for their performances during the week of February 13 – 19, 2023. Athletic Communication Directors of member institutions nominate athletes.
Koster is selected Player of the Week after leading Saint Leo to conference road wins over Rollins and Lynn. The guard from Kearney, Nebraska, began the week with a game-high 35 points, five rebounds, and three assists in an 89-75 win at Rollins.
He followed with 22 points as Saint Leo defeated Lynn, 81-66, on the road. Koster totaled 57 points by shooting 47% from the field (18-38), 33% from behind the arc (4-12), and 89% from the free-throw line (17-19). He averaged 28.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 1.0 steals per game while playing 66 minutes and recording zero turnovers.
