SIOUX FALLS, IA – The Tri-City Storm defeated the Sioux Falls Stampede by a final score of 4-2 Sunday evening at the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center. August Falloon (2), Trevor Connelly, and Jake Richard netted goals for Tri-City in the two-goal victory. Cameron Korpi notched the win in net for the Storm.

Samuel Harris scored his twentieth goal of the season less than a minute into Sunday’s opening period to give the Stampede a 1-0 lead in the matchup. August Falloon scored his first goal of the game, and eighth goal of the season at 10:22 of the 1st period to bring the score to a 1-1 tie. Daimon Gardner notched an assist on the scoring play. Trevor Connelly gave Tri-City a one-goal lead with his eleventh scoring play of the season with less than four minutes to play in Sunday’s 1st period. The goal was netted at 16:06 of the period, and was assisted by Dane Dowiak. The Storm outshot the Stampede 15-6 in the 1st period, and carried a 2-1 lead into the 2nd period.

Adam Zlinka netted his sixth goal of the year at 6:12 of the 2nd period to bring the game to a 2-2 tie. Zlinka’s goal was assisted by Isaac Gordon. Jake Richard scored his twentieth goal of the season with ten minutes left to play in the period to give Tri-City another one-goal lead in the matchup. The goal was assisted by Sebastian Törnqvist and Daimon Gardner. The final goal of the 2nd period was scored with less than thirty seconds to play by August Falloon. Falloon’s goal was his second of the game, and ninth of the season. Tanner Adams and Jacob Jeannette each notched an assist on the scoring play. Tri-City outshot Sioux Falls 10-9 in the 2nd period, and entered Sunday’s final period with a two-goal lead.

Each team failed to score a goal in the 3rd period, and Tri-City skated away with a 4-2 road victory over Sioux Falls. The Stampede outshot the Storm 11-7 in the final period, and the Storm outshot the Stampede 32-26 overall in the matchup. Cameron Korpi turned away 24 of Sioux Falls’ 26 shots to record the victory in goal for Tri-City. Jackson Irving stopped 28 of Tri-City’s 32 shots and dropped the contest in goal for Sioux Falls.

The Storm improved to 20-16-2-3 on the season, and remains in fourth place in the Western Conference standings.
