A North Platte woman faces three years imprisonment for drug trafficking.

On Wednesday in federal court, Catherine Gibson, 45, of North Platte was sentenced to 46 months imprisonment for her role in a methamphetamine conspiracy.

Following her sentence, Gibson will serve a three-year term of supervised release. There is no parole in the federal system.

In February and March of 2021, Gibson was part of a conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine in western Nebraska.

In two separate instances in February, Gibson sold 28 grams of methamphetamine to an informant.

Then on March 3, 2021, authorities searched a vehicle rented by Gibson and located 110 grams of actual methamphetamine and 10 fentanyl pills.

That same day, Gibson’s residence in Alliance, Nebraska was searched and officers located an additional 92 grams of methamphetamine.

Gibson relayed to officers that she had picked up the methamphetamine to sell in Alliance.

This case was investigated by the Nebraska State Patrol, the Box Butte County Sheriff’s Office, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
