GIRLS STATE HOOPS CHAMPIONSHIPS; THIRD PLACE GAMES SET:
The Nebraska Girls State Basketball Championships wraps up today as championships and third place results will be determined by the conclusion of action this evening.
In Class A action, Millard South will face Lincoln High at 6:15 PM. Class B will have #1 Elkhorn South facing #2 Omaha Skutt at 1 PM.
Class C1 has top seed North Bend Central facing the upstart Adams Central Patriots at 11 AM. Malcolm and Bridgeport face off in the third place game.
Class C2 will have Oakland-Craig and Pender competing for the title. Crofton and GACC matchup for third place.
Class D1 will have #4 Hastings St. Cecilia and #2 Centura starts the day at 9 AM. Ravenna and Cedar Catholic face off for third.
Finally, Falls City Sacred Heart and Wyont compete for the D2 Title at 8:15 PM while Humphrey St. Francis and Shelton place for third.
All championship games will take place at Pinnacle Bank Arena while the third place games will be played at Lincoln Northwest High School.
UNK WOMEN BATTLES MISSOURI SOUTHERN FOR SPOT IN MIAA TITLE GAME:
The UNK Women’s Basketball team continues their march to conference dominance, only two wins away from claiming the MIAA regular season and conference tournament titles.
The Lopers won their quarterfinal matchup as the No.1 seed over Northwest Missouri State 65-43, dispatching the Bearcats early in the Kansas City contest.
Tonight, UNK faces No. 5 Missouri Southern State in the semifinals for a spot in the title game against the winner of No. 6 Fort Hays State and No. 2 Central Missouri.
The Lions won over No. 4 Pittsburg State on Friday night 75-61. UNK swept Mo South this season, winning 54-51 at home on Jan. 7 and 58-56 in Joplin back on Feb. 16.
Tip-off time is set for 6 PM.
HUSKER BASEBALL TAKES DOWN VANDY; FACES HAWAII TODAY:
The disappointing season-opening weekend is now well in the rearview mirror.
Nebraska baseball took a massive step forward Friday, topping No. 7 Vanderbilt 5-3 at the Cambria Classic in Minneapolis. The Huskers are now 4-3-1 on the year.
Nebraska takes on Hawaii today with first pitch set for around 3 PM. The Big Red will face off with No. 4 Ole Miss Sunday.
Pregame for Husker Baseball begins at 2:30 PM today on KGFW.
STORM WIN FIFTH CONSECUTIVE GAME:
The Tri-City Storm has won five consecutive game for the first time this season following Friday’s 7-4 home victory over the Sioux Falls Stampede.
The Storm reached a new season-high for most goals netted in a single game in the win. Trevor Connelly (2), Tanner Adams (2), Jake Richard, Sebastian Törnqvist, and Cale Ashcroft scored Tri-City’s goals in the victory.
Tri-City will host Sioux Falls tonight at the Viaero Center in a rematch of Friday’s game. Puck drop for the battle is scheduled for 7:05pm CT
