Kearney Police arrested a former student teacher for allegedly sexually assaulting a Kearney High School student.
According to the news release, on Saturday, March 11, 2023, Kearney Police Department received a report from Kearney Public Schools of a possible sexual relationship occurring between a student teacher for Kearney Public Schools and a teen student enrolled in Kearney High School.
After further investigation KPD obtained an arrest warrant on 23-year-old KeyShaun VanDyke, who was charged with one count of First-Degree Sexual Assault, a class
II Felony.
VanDyke was arrested without incident and is currently at the Buffalo County Jail.
The incident did not happen on school property or during school hours.
