KEARNEY – The Bearcats fell in their home opener on Tuesday evening, dropping an 11-5 matchup to Papillion-LaVista at Memorial Field. Click here to listen to the broadcast replay.
Kearney (0-2) had five runs on seven hits with five errors. Papillion-LaVista (2-0) scored eleven runs on eight hits with three errors.
A big third inning blew the Monarchs early in the lead, going up 6-0 by the end of the third. Kearney attempted a comeback in the fourth, putting up three runs beginning with Karter Lee and Ty Redinger driving in scores.
Tannar Apgar earned the win for the Monarchs, going three and a third innings and allowing three runs on three hits while also striking out five.
Aidan Poppe handled the loss for Kearney. He allowed three hits on six runs and struck out two.
The Bearcats head to Lincoln to face Lincoln Southeast at Sherman Field on Wednesday afternoon with KGFW’s pregame coverage set for 4:15 PM and first pitch at 4:30 PM.
