TRAUDT PICKS CREIGHTON:

Former Grand Island Senior High basketball star Isaac Traudt – a four star recruit and ESPN Top 100 recruit in 2022 – is returning to Nebraska to play under Head Coach Greg McDermott and the Creighton Bluejays.

Traudt announced earlier this week that he was leaving the Cavaliers’ program, stating that he wanted to continue his college basketball career closer to home. The announcement was made official Friday morning via his personal Twitter.

Traudt is a 6-foot-10, 230 lb. forward who redshirted in his lone season at Virginia. He was a four-year letterwinner with the Islanders, averaging 23 points and eight rebounds in his final season in Grand Island. He scored over 25 points and hauled in over nine rebounds per game as junior.

KEARNEY BASEBALL DROPS LATE CONTEST AT EAST:

After a strong return by Kearney to tie the game at six runs each in the bottom of the sixth, Lincoln East’s Maison Gaines crushed a two run homer on his first pitch at bat scoring the go-ahead lead and putting Kearney out of reach as the Spartans earned a 10-8 victory at Den Hartog Field on Thursday evening.

Kearney (2-5) fell despite garnering more hits than Lincoln East, ending with eight runs on twelve hits with one error. East finished with ten runs on ten hits and no errors.

The Bearcats take Friday off before heading back to Lincoln’s Densmore Field for a double-dual against Millard West and Millard South Saturday afternoon.
