The Kearney Bearcat Baseball team once again returns to Lincoln for Heartland Athletic Conference action taking on the Lincoln Northeast Rockets at Den Hartog Field.
The Bearcats aim to get back to their winning ways after dropping three consecutive contests – all in Lincoln – last week.

Nebraska has hosted high school coaches clinics in the past, but has not regularly allowed public access to practices until this season.
HUSKER BASEBALL SPLITS DOUBLEHEADER IN TEXAS:
Casey Burnham went 4-for-4 at the plate and drove in three runs to lead Nebraska to a 12-1 run-rule win in eight innings over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in game one of Saturday’s doubleheader in Abilene, Texas.
However, Nebraska brought the tying run to the plate in the top of the ninth but couldn’t complete the comeback, as the Huskers fell 5-3 at Abilene Christian in game two.
The Huskers (15-9-1) had three runs on eight hits and a trio of errors, while the Wildcats (21-6) recorded five runs, six hits and an error.
The Huskers continue non-conference play on the road, as Nebraska ventures to Kansas State for a midweek matchup on Tuesday, April 4 in Manhattan, Kan. First pitch between the Huskers and Wildcats is scheduled for 6 p.m. at Tointon Family Stadium.
LOPER SOFTBALL DROPS SATURDAY; SPLITS SUNDAY AT PATRIOT PARK:
After being swept by the Missouri Western State Griffons on Saturday at home, UNK Softball found a win on Sunday, splitting the day against Pittsburg State.
Sophomore Sydney Thomason threw a complete game seven-hit shut out to help Nebraska-Kearney beat Pittsburg State, 2-0, Sunday afternoon at Patriot Park.
The Gorillas (22-12, 7-5) won the first game, 8-2, thanks to a seven-hit complete game by junior southpaw Hannah Harrison and three big innings. With the win in the nightcap, UNK moves to 13-21 (4-6) and stops an eight-game skid.
The Lopers have back-to-back road trips up next, first visiting Emporia State and nationally-ranked Washburn.
HUSKER SOFTBALL DROPS HOME SERIES TO MICHIGAN:
The Nebraska softball team (25-12, 5-2 Big Ten) fell to Michigan in the final game of the series on Sunday afternoon at Bowlin Stadium. The Wolverines (17-14, 3-3 Big Ten) claimed the series victory after winning, 4-2.
Katelyn Caneda led the Nebraska offense, finishing 2-for-2 on the day with one RBI while Sydney Gray added a solo home run. Ellie Mataya and Lexie Blair each added two hits for Michigan while Blair tallied two RBI as well.
The Huskers return to action next weekend, April 7-9, in College Park for a three-game series against Maryland. Game one is set for Friday at 5 p.m. (CT).
STORM STOMP OUT STAMPEDE SATURDAY NIGHT:
The Tri-City Storm defeated the Sioux Falls Stampede by a final score of 6-4 Saturday night at the Viaero Center in the organization’s annual Youth Hockey Night.
Trevor Connelly’s two-goal performance tied an organizational record for garnering at least one point in seventeen consecutive games.
Tri-City returns to action on Tuesday night in a home game at the Viaero Center against the Omaha Lancers. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:05pm CT.
LOPER T&F WINS THIRTEEN EVENTS AT CENTRAL NEBRASKA CHALLENGE:
The Nebraska Kearney track and field team won 13 events (four women and nine men) at the annual Central Nebraska Challenge Saturday at Kearney High School.
The Blue & Gold split up next weekend with some of the team headed to Canyon, Texas, for the annual Jo Meaker Classic with the rest of the Lopers a few hours North in Wichita for the K.T. Woodman Classic.
UNK TENNIS UPSETS UCO AT HARMON PARK:
Junior lefty Jazmin Zamorano won a third-set tiebreaker over 50th-ranked Pete Komada to help 44th-ranked Nebraska-Kearney upset 28th-ranked Central Oklahoma, 4-3, Sunday afternoon at Harmon Park.
UNK heads to Missouri Western State next Saturday.
LSU CLAIMS WOMEN’S NATIONAL TITLE OVER CLARK, IOWA:
History has been made. No. 3 LSU wins the 2023 NCAA national championship, its first in program history.
The Tigers outlasted No. 2 Iowa to win 102-85.
After six attempts in the Final Four, LSU finally broke through to the title game and won it all.
Alongside the most points in a title game, multiple records were shattered. LSU outscored Iowa 32-20 in the second quarter to lead 59-42 at the half. That is the most any team has scored in a women’s Final Four half since Georgia scored 57 in 1985.
Iowa’s Caitlin Clark scored a game-high 30 points setting a new record for points scored in a single NCAA tournament.
