SIOUX CITY, IA – The Tri-City Storm dropped a 6-2 road decision to the Sioux City Musketeers Friday night at the Tyson Events Center. Evan Werner and Alex Bump each netted a goal for the Storm in the loss. Tri-City will return to action tomorrow night with a road game against the Sioux Falls Stampede. Ryan Conmy netted his team-leading thirty-first goal of the season at 5:44 of Friday’s opening period to give Sioux City a 1-0 advantage in the matchup. The goal was netted on the powerplay, and was assisted by Tyler Hotson, and Sam Deckhut. Evan Werner tied the game at 1-1 with his eighteenth scoring play of the year at 12:23 of the 1st period. The goal was netted even-strength, and was assisted by Cam O’Neill. Kaden Shahan scored his sixteenth goal of the season with less than four minutes to play in Friday’s 1st period to give the Musketeers a one-goal lead in the matchup. The goal was netted on the powerplay, and was assisted by Grant Slukynsky, and Ben Poitras. Sioux City outshot Tri-City 8-6 in the 1st period, and the 2nd period began with the Storm trailing in the matchup by a goal.
Ryan Conmy netted a shorthanded goal less than two minutes into Friday’s 2nd period to give Sioux City a 3-1 lead in the battle. Conmy’s goal was his second of the game, and conference-leading thirty-second of the season. Ren Morque notched an assist on the scoring play. Colin Kessler scored his fifth goal of the year at 9:01 of the 3rd period to increase Sioux City’s lead to three goals. Grayson Badger recorded an assist on the scoring play. The Musketeers outshot the Storm 6-5 during Friday’s 2nd period, and the Storm trailed by a 4-1 score entering the final period.
Alex Bump scored his twelfth goal of the season forty-eight seconds into Friday’s 3rd period to bring the Storm within two goals of the Musketeers’ lead. Kieran Cebrian notched an assist on the scoring play. Tyler Hotson scored his sixteenth goal of the year at 13:41 of the 3rd period to give Sioux City a 5-2 lead in the matchup. The final goal of Friday’s game was scored into an empty net by Ryan Conmy. Conmy’s goal was his third of the season, and team-leading thirty-third of the year. Tri-City outshot Sioux City 9-6 in the 3rd period, and each team recorded 20 shots on net in the matchup.
Cameron Korpi dropped the game in net for the Storm after making 14 saves on 19 shots. Croix Kochendorfer notched the win in goal for the Musketeers after denying 18 of the Storm’s 20 shots on goal during the matchup.
Tri-City dropped to 32-19-3-3 in the four-goal road loss. The Storm remains the 4th place team in the Western Conference standings entering tomorrow’s road contests against the Sioux Falls Stampede.
The Storm will return to the Viaero Center for home games against the Des Moines Buccaneers on Friday, April 14th, and Saturday, April 15th. Friday’s game will feature a $5 Kids’ Friday presented by Big Apple Fun Center. Saturday’s game is Tri-City’s Community Night at the Viaero Center. Puck drop for each game is scheduled for 7:05pm CT.
