A Grand Island man was arrested after allegedly attempting to stab another man.

According to Grand Island Police, on Monday just past 10 p.m. officers responded to a report of a weapons offense on the 1700 block of S Lincoln Ave.

Upon arrival, officers found the 41-year-old victim with multiple defensive stab wounds.

The suspect was identified as Abdulrahman Mahmood, 38, who was not at the scene at the time police arrived.

The victim told officers Mahmood attempted to stab him while making threats that he was going to kill him.

During the assault the victim sustained a knife wound to the right eyebrow as well as defensive wounds. In addition, Mahmood had also allegedly bitten the victim’s right side and right pointer finger which nearly severed the tip.

The incident was confirmed by an independent witness, with surveillance footage also observed.

Officers later located Mahmood from a vehicle description provided by the victim and witness.

Mahmood was arrested and charged with first degree assault, terroristic threats, and use of a weapon to commit a felony.
