KEARNEY – The Kearney Girls and Boys track and field teams wrapped the A-2 District meet on Tuesday night at Kearney High School qualifying in fourteen events for the girls and nine for the boys for the State Meet in Omaha next week.
The meet was pushed back two hours due to severe weather in the area at the beginning of Tuesday. The A-2 meet was hosted at Kearney High School, with visiting schools including: Elkhorn South, Millard West, Omaha North, Lincoln High, North Platte, Omaha Central, Creighton Prep, and Omaha Marian.
The Bearcat girls ended as A-2 District Runner-up, finishing with 118 total points behind Elkhorn South’s 134. Kearney qualified eighteen athletes and all three relays. The athletes automatically qualifying for state include:
Brooke Barth, High Jump; Alyssa Bauer, 4×400; Abigail Burger, 1600 M; Darin Brockmeier, 4×800; Kiara Dutenhoffer, Long Jump, 4×400; Abigail Focke, 4×100; Avery Franzen, Shot Put; Ovilia Gaasch, 4×800; Misha Kociemba, 100, 200, 4×100; Dawson Kreycik, 4×800; Kelsey Hatcher, 100 hurdles, 300 Hurdles, 4×100, 4×400; Kyah Hazard, Pole Vault; Alexa Jacobsen, Shot Put, Discus; Gabby Martinez, 100, 200, 4×100, 4×400; Blaire May, 800; Jacey McReynolds, High Jump, 100 Hurdles, 300 Hurdles; Haidyn Skeen, Shot Put, Discus; Sam Stava, 4×800, 1600.
The Kearney boys ended in third place overall with 100 total points. Creighton Prep won the district with 131 total points. The Bearcats qualified nine total events including the 4×400 relay. The athletes automatically qualifying for state include:
