NEBRASKA BASEBALL DROPS EARLY LEAD TO PURDUE:
Nebraska held a 3-0 lead in the fourth until Purdue plated seven unanswered runs in the Huskers’ 7-3 setback at Purdue on Friday afternoon in West Lafayette, Ind.
Nebraska (30-21-1, 14-9 Big Ten) scored three runs on nine hits and an error, while Purdue (24-28, 11-12 Big Ten) had seven runs on 11 hits.
Nebraska and Purdue conclude the series tomorrow at 1 p.m. CT at Alexander Field in West Lafayette, Ind.
NEBRASKA SOFTBALL FALLS LATE TO SHOCKERS:
The Nebraska softball team (34-21) fell late to No. 21 Wichita State, 6-5, in round one of the NCAA Stillwater Regional Friday night.
The Huskers took an early 5-0 lead as Mya Felder led the way with four RBI including a two-run homer and a two-RBI single. However, the Shockers (44-10) responded with six unanswered runs to secure the come-from-behind victory.
The Big Red looked to rally in the seventh, loading the bases with one out, but a fielder’s choice and a line out secured the Shocker 6-5 victory late Friday night.
The Huskers return to action Saturday, May 21, against UMBC at 4:30 p.m. (CT).
CLASS C & D STATE TRACK AND FIELD DAY ONE RESULTS:
Class C&D ended their first day of the State Track Championships on Friday. Final events continue into Day 2 events tod ay with field events beginning at 9 AM and running finals at 1:30 PM.

LOPER MBB SIGNEE TO PARTICIPATE IN VEGAS ALL-STAR GAME:
Nebraska Kearney men’s basketball signee Trey Deveaux will take part in the 11th annual National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) All-Star game this weekend in Las Vegas.
Deveaux (Lincoln, Neb./Norris H.S.) starred at Central C.C. in Columbus the past two years. The NJCAA first-team Division II All-American is a member of the “North All-Stars” which features players hailing from Florida, Georgia and New York junior and community colleges.
FORMER HUSKER WBB STAR TURNER SET TO OPEN WNBA SEASON:
Former Nebraska women’s basketball star Yvonne Turner will open her fifth WNBA season in 2023, when her Seattle Storm take on the Las Vegas Aces today at 2 p.m. (CT) on ABC.
Turner, a four-year letter winner for the Huskers from 2007 to 2010, recently completed her 12th professional season overseas.
A first-team All-Big 12 guard for Nebraska’s 2010 team that won the conference championship with a perfect regular season and earned a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament, Turner has played professionally in Australia, Germany, Poland, Russia, Spain and Turkey.
NFL LEGEND JIM BROWN PASSES:
Jim Brown, one of the greatest professional and college football players of all time, has died. He was 87.
His wife, Monique, announced Brown’s death in an Instagram post Friday afternoon. She said Brown “passed peacefully” Thursday night in their home in Los Angeles.
In 2020, Brown was selected to the NFL 100 all-time team and also was ranked as the No. 1 all-time player on the College Football 150 list to celebrate those sports’ anniversaries. He was named the greatest football player ever by the Sporting News in 2002.
