A Grand Island man was sentenced on firearm and drug trafficking charges.
In federal court Wednesday, William Eugen Packer, 47, was sentenced to 151 month’s imprisonment for possessing with intent to distribute methamphetamine and 60 months for possessing a firearm during a drug trafficking crime. A total sentence of 211 months. Following his sentence, Packer will serve a 5-year supervised release.
In April 2021, Packer fled on foot from traffic stop in Kansas. Packer dropped a backpack that contained 4.5 pounds of methamphetamine. The driver of the vehicle and another passenger knew Packer was transporting drugs to sell in Nebraska.
In October 2021, Packer was arrested on a federal warrant for the April offense, and was found in possession of three firearms, 1.6 pounds of methamphetamine and $16,060 dollars.
The case was investigated by the Trident Drug Task Force, Homeland Security, and FBI.
