RUNZA SENIORS EVEN RECORD WITH NARROW LOSS AT COLUMBUS:
Columbus Cornerstone added the winning run in the bottom of the fourth as a defensive game settled the Kearney Runza Seniors record in Pawnee Park as Kearney dropped the 1-0 game on Wednesday night.
Kearney (6-6) ended with no runs scored on three hits with two errors while Columbus won with one run on three hits and no errors.
The Runza Seniors take today off before heading to Lincoln for their second tournament in the eastern half of the state in consecutive weekends.

SIX HUSKER ALUMS ADDED TO NEBRASKA 2023 HALL OF FAME CLASS:
Five distinguished student-athletes and one legendary head coach make up the six individuals in the 2023 University of Nebraska Athletics Hall of Fame class, announced on Wednesday.
The 2023 class includes: Lori Endicott (volleyball, 1985-88); Tommie Frazier (football, 1992-95); Emily Parsons (women’s gymnastics, 2005-08); Tolly Thompson (wrestling, 1993-97); Brittany Timko (soccer, 2003-06); and retired men’s and women’s track and field head coach Gary Pepin.
The five student-athletes in the 2023 Nebraska Athletics Hall of Fame class combined to win two team national championships and one individual national title while earning 18 All-America awards.
Pepin guided Nebraska to three national championships as the Huskers’ head coach, and his athletes combined for 59 individual national titles and 639 All-America accolades.
NEBRASKA VOLLEYBALL EARNS FIVE SET WIN OVER BRAZIL MILITARY TEAM:
The Nebraska volleyball team came from behind to knock off the Brazil Military Selection Team, featuring current and former national team players, in five sets.
The Huskers won the first set, 25-23, but dropped the second set, 27-25, and the third set, 25-16.
Trailing for the first time on the Brazil trip, the Huskers regrouped and won the fourth set, 25-19, thanks to some big kills by Lindsay Krause down the stretch and an ace by Bergen Reilly to close it out.
In set five, Bekka Allick had an early kill and two blocks to put the Huskers in front, 6-2, and Andi Jackson was in on a pair of blocks to lift NU to an 11-6 lead. A Krause kill earned match point, and a Merritt Beason block ended the match at 15-10 with a solo block.
THIELE TAKES NEBRASKA WOMEN’S MATCH PLAY TITLE:
Husker golfer Lindsey Thiele captured the first state women’s match play title of her career with a 2 & 1 win over Kaitlyn Hanna – a current Iowa Hawkeye golfer – in the 100th Nebraska Women’s Match Play Championship on Wednesday at the Happy Hollow Club in Omaha.
Thiele, a rising senior from Wahoo, jumped to a quick lead over Hanna (Omaha) by winning the first hole, then pushed her edge to 2 up after winning again on No. 4.
Thiele joins her older sister Hannah, also a three-year letter winner as a Husker golfer, as a Nebraska Women’s Match Play champion. Lindsey Thiele gives the Huskers a state women’s match play champion for the third consecutive year.

Otterdahl’s best mark on the day was 67-4 (20.52m) on his third attempt, which put him in the lead after three throws. DENVER TAKES GAME THREE WITH MURRAY, JOKIC TRIPLE-DOUBLES:
Never had two players from the same team had 30-point triple-doubles in the same game. Never in the regular season. Never in the playoffs. Certainly never in the NBA Finals.
Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray made history Wednesday night — and have the Denver Nuggets two wins away from making some real history as well.
Jokic and Murray became the first teammates in NBA Finals history to both record triple-doubles, and the Nuggets reclaimed the lead in the series by beating the Miami Heat 109-94 in Game 3.
Game Four tips off in Miami on Friday night.
MESSI PICKS MIAMI; MOVES TO MLS:
Lionel Messi has pulled off his latest stunning feat: He is headed to Major League Soccer and joining Inter Miami.
After months — years, even — of speculation, Messi on Wednesday finally revealed his decision to join a Miami franchise that has been led by another global soccer icon, David Beckham, since its inception but has yet to make any real splashes on the field.
Messi’s next matches are likely to be exhibitions with Argentina against Australia on June 15 at Beijing and at Indonesia in Jakarta four days later — and then his Inter Miami debut figures to be sometime in July.
