Kearney Volunteer Firefighter responded to a structure fire Wednesday morning.
According to KVFD, on Wednesday at 8:30 a.m. firefighters responded to a residential structure fire in the 7500 block of West 96th St.
While enroute, the reporting party stated that a fire had started in a trash receptacle and was extending to the exterior of the house.
Upon arrival, the fire was seen on the exterior portion of the home with heavy smoke conditions coming from all sides of the roof.
Firefighters were able to extinguish the main fire quickly.
No injuries were reported however several pets were removed. The status of the pets is unknown at this time.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation by Nebraska State Fire Marshal’s Office.
Buffalo County Sheriff’s Office, Good Samaritan EMS, Black Hills Energy, Dawson Public Power and the NSFM all assisted in the response.
