KEARNEY – The Runza Seniors earned a big win on Sunday with a 10-2 victory over the visiting Scottsbluff WESTCO Zephyr’s at Memorial Field.

Kearney (11-9) earned the win with ten runs scored on seventeen hits with two errors, while Scottsbluff fell on two runs off of three hits and four errors.

Scottsbluff had the day begin early with a double and ground out RBI that earned them a 2-0 lead in the top of the second inning. Kearney then stormed ahead, taking the lead in the bottom of the fourth with Brodie Arnold singling for two runs, an error adding another score, and Bryce Andersen having a run scored off a single.

The lead was Kearney’s from then on, adding a run in the fifth and four in the sixth to wrap the day at Memorial Field.

Rhett Mundorf earned the win for Kearney giving up three hits and two runs – only one earned – over four innings. Mundorf struck out three and walked none.

Kearney will head to Omaha on Wednesday beginning the vast Prep Tournament with matchups running until the weekend.
