A dead body was located in a train yard Sunday.
According to Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, dispatchers received a call Sunday at 2:25 p.m. about a deceased body found on a locomotive in Bailey Yards, west of North Platte, NE.
Deputies located a badly decomposing male body in a small compartment used to house a fire extinguisher on the rear of the engine.
Investigators say no foul play is suspected.
Evidence points that the subject wedged himself into the room and shut the door but was unable to unlatch the door. The deceased individual had several identifications on him that showed he was a citizen of Mexico.
The train engine arrived at Bailey Yards earlier the same day from San Antonio, TX and was previously in Mexico for several days.
The investigation is ongoing, and it appears the death is accidental in nature.
The name is being withheld pending notification of relatives.
