HUSKER SOFTBALL – JORDY BAHL COMMENTS:

BAHL – ALWAYS BEEN A HOMEBODY:

Nebraska Softball had a huge transfer addition in Papillion native Jordy Bahl, a pitcher with two years of eligibility remaining that comes from national champion Oklahoma. Bahl discussed her thoughts on her transfer during a press conference on Tuesday…

Bahl has a career ERA of 1.05 and was the College Softball World Series MVP this past year for the Sooners.

BAHL – HIGHS AND LOWS OF TRANSFERING:

Husker Softball received the best news of their off-season with the return of Jordy Bahl to the Cornhusker State. Bahl spoke about the best and worst of the week in winning the national championship with Oklahoma while also electing to hit the portal…

Nebraska now has a pitcher with a career ERA of 1.05, dozens of shutout performances, and a College World Series most valuable player award.

BAHL – PROUD TO BE A NEBRASKAN:

Jordy Bahl spoke to the media on Tuesday and shared how her statewide pride brought her back to her home state…

Bahl has showcased her Nebraska State outline tattoo located on her right arm – an inscription she received while still playing for Oklahoma.

RUNZA SENIORS BEGIN PREP TOURNAMENT IN OMAHA:

The Kearney Runza Senior Legion Baseball team hits their midpoint of the season heading to the CWS Prep Tournament in Omaha beginning today and running through Sunday.

Kearney is scheduled for six games beginning today with matchups against Millard South at noon and Rapid City, SD at 2:30 PM. All of the Runza Seniors games will be played at Millard South High School.

Game recaps and more details can be found throughout the Prep Tournament at KGFW.com.

HUSKER FOOTBALL ADDS DENVER-AREA OFFENSIVE LINEMAN:

Nebraska picked up the commitment of Landen Davidson, a 2024 three-star offensive lineman from Broomfield, Colorado.

Davidson received a Husker offer on June 11 following a camp inside Memorial Stadium, and he quickly set up an official visit to Lincoln for this past weekend. The 6-foot-4, 315-pounder liked what he saw and decided to pull the trigger on a commitment.

Davidson projects as an interior lineman at the college level. He’s shown he has explosiveness for a 315-pounder, clocking in at 4.91 seconds in the 40-yard dash while at a Tennessee camp earlier this month.

Davidson becomes the third offensive lineman in the Huskers’ 2024 class, joining three-stars Gibson Pyle of Texas and Jake Peters of Iowa.

JOHANNSON NAMED BIG TEN FIELD ATHLETE OF THE YEAR:

Nebraska thrower Axelina Johansson was named the Big Ten Women’s Field Athlete of the Year on Tuesday after a vote by the league’s head coaches.

The honor adds to Johansson’s impressive haul of accomplishments during the outdoor season, as she already had been named Big Ten Women’s Field Athlete of the Championships and USTFCCCA Midwest Region Women’s Field Athlete of the Year. Johansson is just Nebraska’s second Big Ten Women’s Field Athlete of the Year winner, joining Mara Griva in 2013.

Johansson, a sophomore from Hok, Sweden, won the NCAA shot put national title with a mark of 63-3 1/4 (19.28m). She put on a dominating display at the NCAA Outdoor Championships in Austin, Texas, as each of her six throws would have won her the NCAA gold medal. Johansson became the third Husker female to win an NCAA shot put title.

MESSI EXPECTED TO MAKE MIAMI DEBUT JULY 21:

Lionel Messi is expected to make his Major League Soccer debut with Inter Miami at a July 21 home game, the team confirmed Tuesday.

Owner Jorge Mas told selected outlets on Monday that his club and Messi have agreed to terms and are finalizing paperwork and a visa. The team confirmed certain details Tuesday, including that Messi will be signing a contract through the end of the 2025 season with an option for 2026.

Messi’s contract will be worth $50 million to $60 million per year, the team said Tuesday. He cannot sign until sometime in July, after his contract with Paris Saint-Germain expires.
