OMAHA – Kearney split their afternoon matchups in Omaha on Day Three of the CWS Creighton Prep Tournament Friday, falling in the second game of the doubleheader 3-1 to Fremont.

Kearney (13-12) fell with only one run scored off of three hits asnd one error. Fremont earned the victory with three runs and eight hits with one error.

It was a strong pitching performance by both sides to keep the game low scoring as Kearney’s Quinn Foster fielded the start. Foster would record thirteen outs in total.

Fremont would get on the board first in the top of the third inning off a double, followed by a sacrifice fly as each scored one run.

A solo home run in the top of the fifth inning lifted Fremont to a 3-1 lead that they would hold to the final out.

Foster took the loss for Kearney, going four and one third innings. He allowed three runs on six hits while striking out four and walking three. Jase Blattner, Nolan Smith, and Bryce Andersen each recorded one hit for the Runza Seniors. Blattner also added the runner batted in.

Kearney is back in action facing Creighton Prep 2 at noon at Millard South High School. The Runza Seniors are currently 2-3 in the tournament since Wednesday. Full game recaps can be found at KGFW.com.
