Nebraska received its first broadband director.
On Tuesday Governor Jim Pillen announced his appointment of Patrick Haggerty as the state’s first broadband director.
Haggerty will lead the Nebraska Broadband Office established by Executive Order No 23-02 and LB 683 which will coordinate broadband deployment across the state. Reflective of the significance of this position for Nebraska, Governor Pillen established the Office of the Director of Broadband as part of his executive Cabinet.
In addition to Haggerty’s new position, he will also join Governor Pillen, directors from the Department of Economic Development, and DOT in a fly around the state July 6 where he will touch on his plans to connect Nebraska. Details about the event are to be announced.
Haggerty will assume his new duties July 17.
