KEARNEY – 1400 has never sounded so sweet.
The Kearney Runza Senior Legion Baseball team took care of business in their regular season finale at Memorial Field on Tuesday night, dominating Grand Island U-Save Pharmacy in a 12-1 victory. Click here to listen to the broadcast replay.
The win was No. 1400 in the career of Head Coach Brad Archer, who is set to retire from his head coaching role after forty three years in the program.

Kearney (17-17) earned the win with twelve runs scored on fourteen hits with no errors. Grand Island U-Save fell scoring one run on four hits and four errors.
Bryce Andersen had a perfect day at bat, going three-for-three including a double in the third inning, and adding singles in the first and fourth. The scoring began in the first inning as Andersen’s first single scored one run.

Garrison Burns turned a ground out into another score in the second, while the bottom of the third was owned by Kearney as Andersen and Kegan Brand added RBI Doubles in the inning.
Kearney would add six runs in seven hits in the bottom of the fourth to extend their lead past the run rule, as Jase Blattner singled, Kaleb Larson doubled, Brodie Arnold singled, and Kole Throckmorton singled as each hit scored one run (Larson’s scored two). An error added another run in the inning.
Jacob Hansen earned the win for the Runza Seniors on the mound, starting the contest giving up two hits and one run over one and two-third innings. Rhett Mundorf and Brodie Arnold also saw action in the contest.

Kearney now moves onto the A7 District Tournament at Ryder Park in Grand Island as the No. 4 seed, facing Lexington Pinnacle Bank on Friday at 1 PM. KGFW’s pregame coverage is set for 12:45 PM.
