Thursday Morning Sports – Big Ten Media Days Representatives Selected, Husker Football Fan Day Set for July 30, USMNT Drops Semifinal Stunner to Panama, Sports Scores and Schedules

BIG TEN ANNOUNCES MEDIA DAY REPRESENTATIVES:

The Big Ten Conference announced today the complete list of students scheduled to attend the 2023 Big Ten Football Media Days presented by Old National Bank, to be held Wednesday and Thursday, July 26 and 27, at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.

Once again, Big Ten Network will broadcast both days of the event live on BTN and the FOX Sports app.

Representing the Nebraska Cornhuskers will be offensive guard Ethan Piper of Norfolk, linebacker Luke Reimer of Lincoln, and transfer quarterback Jeff Sims of Jacksonville, Fla. 

Matt Rhule will also be in attendance at the media days. Nebraska’s media appearance will come on Thursday, July 27. 

HUSKER FOOTBALL FAN DAY SET FOR JULY 30:

Nebraska Football fans will have an opportunity to meet the 2023 Huskers on Sunday, July 30 at the 2023 Nebraska Football Fan Day. This year’s Fan Day will be held inside the Hawks Championship Center from 3-5 p.m.

While the event will move inside to a climate-controlled environment, the seating for Fan Day will be like past years. Players will be seated with their position groups throughout the field in the Hawks Center.

USMNT FALLS IN SEMIFINAL STUNNER TO PANAMA:

After winning the CONCACAF Gold Cup with its junior varsity two years ago, the United States failed to repeat.

Adalberto Carrasquilla converted the decisive penalty kick after Cristian Roldan was stopped in his attempt, and Panama beat the Americans 5-4 in a shootout following a 1-1 tie on Wednesday night to reach the CONCACAF Gold Cup final against Mexico.

The U.S., a seven-time winner of the championship of North and Central America and the Caribbean, failed to reach the final for the first time since losing a 2015 semifinal to Jamaica. The Americans have not won consecutive Gold Cups since 2005 and ’07.
