NORTH PLATTE – The POST 52 Juniors continue their season with a win over the Hastings Juniors at North Platte’s Bill Wood Field Monday night, earning an extra inning 9-5 win.

Kearney POST 52 (26-16) won scoring nine runs on ten hits with one error, while Hastings fell scoring five runs on eleven hits with three errors.

The Kearney Juniors were on the board first in the second inning with a score form Dominic Nowak’s sac fly, scoring a run. At the top of the third, Rydge Jackson added an additional score after his own sac fly brought in the second run.

The Hastings Braves tied the game in the bottom of the fourth with a single and sac fly, but a Kearney ground out by Gunner Demlit in the top of the sixth gave the POST 52 Juniors the lead 5-4.

Hastings would tie the contest again at five runs each in the bottom of the seventh. The game would continue into extra innings, where Kearney only needed the eighth to earn the victory.

The top of the eighth finally broke Hastings, as Kearney’s Tysen Cabela singled to add two runs while a double by Talyn Lewis followed to extend the POST 52 Juniors’ lead to 9-5. Hastings was unable to plate any runs in the bottom of the inning, securing a Kearney win.

Cabela earns the win for Kearney allowing one hit and one run over one inning, while adding a strikeout and a walk. Matt Cone started the contest for POST 52, giving up seven hits and four runs over four innings. He added one strikeout and no walks.

The Kearney Juniors will take on Grand Island on Tuesday at 4 PM from Bill Wood Field.
