NORTH PLATTE – A late rally wasn’t enough for the POST 52 Kearney Juniors, having their season end at Bill Wood Field in North Platte to top seeded Grand Island Five Points Bank 6-5.
POST 52 scored five runs on twelve hits and two errors, while Grand Island ended with six runs on fourteen hits and two errors.
Grand Island hit the scoring first in the bottom of the third and fourth, adding two runs in each outing.
The Kearney Juniors fought back with two runs scored in the fifth, one in the sixth, and had the tying run ready to go in the top of the seventh after getting within one run. A fly out ended the contest and POST 52’s season.
Talyn Lewis for Kearney fielded the loss, as the starter went four innings giving up four runs on nine hits with two strikeouts and no walks.
POST 52 ends the season 26-17 overall.
