A Grand Island man has been sentenced to nine years in prison for drug and firearm offences. Mohamed Ahmed, 20, was sentenced to 48 months imprisonment on posession of cocaine and fentanyl with the intent to distribute, and a consecutive 60 term for posession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug crime. Upon serving his sentence, Ahmed will serve a 5 year supervised release.

In March of 2022, GIPD were called to a residence in Grand Island where a juvenile female was found unconscious and not breathing. A juvenile male present when police arrived reported purchasing a bill from Ahmed, which they had believed was Percocet. Upon ingesting the drug, the female began to show signs of an overdose and became unconcious.

Officers obtained a search warrant for Ahmed’s residence, and located handguns, scales, multiple pounds of marijuana, cocaine and fentanyl pills.
