AMERICAN AND NATIONAL DIVISION PLAYOFF BRACKETS RELEASED FOR AREA LEGION TEAMS:
The Runza Seniors of Kearney will make their trip to Bellevue West on Saturday, continuing their postseason run as the A7 District Runner-Up. Brackets for both the National and American Playoff Divisions were released on Thursday afternoon.
Kearney will take on Creighton Prep Five Points Bank on Saturday at 4 PM from Bellevue West. KGFW’s pregame coverage is set for 3:45 PM with Alex Hammeke and Mitchell Brandt on the call.
Other A7 Teams in action include the district champion Hastings Five Points Bank, as they are the host site at Duncan Field for the National Division. Hastings plays at 7 PM against Equitable Bank.
Grand Island Home Federal also qualified for the National Division at Duncan Field and will face the PDG Storm Gold at Duncan Field at 4 PM.

TRAILS & RAILS SET TO HOST VINTAGE BASEBALL GAME AT MEMORIAL:
As part of the Kearney Sesquicentennial Celebrations taking place this year, the next big event features the Vintage Base Ball Past-Time Game at Kearney Memorial Field on Sunday, July 23, starting at 6:30 p.m.
In partnership with the City of Kearney Park and Recreation, the game will be played between the Trails & Rails Museum of Kearney and the Stuhr Museum of Grand Island. Both teams will be following 1867 rules and using authentic equipment.
The game will be played at Kearney’s Memorial Field, a historic venue that was completed after World War II.
OMAHA PRO VOLLEYBALL ANNOUNCES TEAM NAME:
Local Omaha volleyball fans now know who they’ll be rooting for in the Pro Volleyball Federation, as the professional program announced their new team name earlier today.
The team will don the nickname ‘Supernovas’.
Nebraska Pro Volleyball made itself known last week, announcing the women’s pro volleyball team would call the 18,000-seat CHI Health Center arena its home.
The team will play in the Pro Volleyball Federation. Other clubs currently in the league are Atlanta, San Diego, Orlando, Grand Rapids, and Columbus.
NEBRASKA SOFTBALL ANNOUNCES FALL SCHEDULE:
Nebraska fans will have the opportunity to see the Husker softball team play nine times at Bowlin Stadium in September and October as part of the fall exhibition season.
The Huskers will host three intrasquad scrimmages on consecutive Thursdays in September before playing a total of six games against Omaha, Creighton, Colorado State and South Dakota in October.
All fall games are open to the public – including the intrasquad scrimmages – with free admission.
COMMANDERS SALE UNANIMOUSLY APPROVED BY NFL:
NFL owners unanimously approved the sale of the Washington Commanders on Thursday from Dan Snyder to a group led by Josh Harris and including Magic Johnson for a record $6.05 billion, right before the league announced a $60 million fine for Snyder for improprieties corroborated by its investigation into workplace culture and business dealings.
The purchase by Harris Blitzer Sports and Entertainment is the highest price paid for a North American professional sports club.
