BELLEVUE – Brad Archer’s tenure as the head of the Runza Senior legion program came to an end on Sunday afternoon at Bellevue West’s Allred Field, falling 7-4 in the American Division elimination game to the Pat Hagge Millard South seniors. Click here to listen to the broadcast replay.

Kearney (21-21) fielded their final loss after scoring four runs on eleven hits with one error. Millard South won on seven hits with six hits and one error.

Millard South opened the contest hot, getting back-to-back doubles in the opening frame leading to their first score of the game. Kearney would follow suit with a score in the bottom of the first as Kole Throckmorton ran in the first score off a passed ball.

Kearney then added two runs in the bottom of the second as Nolan Smith singled, putting Runza up 3-1.

The Kearney Seniors would add their fourth and final run in the bottom of the fourth, as Nolan Smith scored on a Pat Hagge error.

The sixth inning got away from Kearney, as six runs were scored by the Millard South seniors to take the lead and eventually the win.

Quinn Foster earned the start for Runza, going five innings and giving up three hits with three runs, two earned, with two walks and four strikeouts. Bryce Andersen came in relief, going two third innings with three hits allowed and four runs (all earned) with two walks. Rhett Mundorf ended the contest allowing no hits and no runs.

Kearney ends the season as the A7 District Runner-Up and 21-21 on the season.
