A new county court judge will be coming to Central Nebraska.

According to a release, Governor Jim Pillen announced the appointment of Bryan McQuay of Alma as a county court judge in the Ninth Judicial District of Nebraska. The district includes Hall and Buffalo counties.

For the last 24 years, McQuay has been actively practicing law in rural Nebraska. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from the University of Nebraska –Lincoln and earned a juris doctor from the University of Nebraska College of Law.

McQuay has served as a county attorney in Harlan, Kearney, Phelps counties and also as a special prosecutor in Adams, Buffalo, Franklin, Furnas, Phelps, and Webster counties.

In addition, McQuay’s legal experience covers a variety of areas including juvenile issues, criminal and civil law, real estate and personal injury. He also operates a private practice in Alma.

McQuay fills a judicial position created by the state legislature which established a fifth county court judge. McQuay will take to his new position September 1.
