A woman died and another person was seriously injured in a head-on crash in Merrick County Monday.
According to the Merrick County Sheriff’s Office, on Monday at 7 p.m. deputies responded to a two-vehicle collision at 61A Spur and T Road near Palmer.
Officials say that a southbound 2014 Ford Explorer traveling on 61A Spur attempted to pass another vehicle but collided head-on with a northbound 2017 Chevrolet Suburban.
The driver of the Ford was identified as Angela Williams, 47, of Archer, NE. Williams was the sole occupant of the vehicle. She was transported to a trauma center in Lincoln but succumbed to her injuries. Williams was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident. Alcohol is believed to have been a factor.
The driver and sole occupant of the Chevrolet was seriously injured. They were transported to St. Francis in Grand Island for treatment. The driver was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.
