The Huskers took an off-day on Sunday and returned to the practice facility this morning.

RHULE – TRUST LEADERSHIP IN BIG TEN FOR EXPANSION:

Prior to the sixth practice of the Huskers fall camp, Washington and Oregon officially joined the Big Ten – furthering the conference’s geographical footprint. Head Coach Matt Rhule was asked his thoughts on the further growth of the Big Ten…

Rhule had previously coached in the AAC at Temple and the reduced Big 12 at Baylor.

RHULE – ISAAC GIFFORD ONE OF THE STRENGTHS AT SAFETY:

The Blackshirts took a hit during the first week of fall camp, as returning starter Myles Farmer entered the transfer portal. Nebraska Football Head Coach Matt Rhule stated however that he’s still confident in the defensive backfield because of standout players…

The Huskers hope Gifford can replace the second leading tackler from 2022 in Farmer.

RHULE – PROCHAZKA BANGED UP AGAIN; EXPECTED TO RETURN:

Nebraska Football Head Coach Matt Rhule spoke to the media after Saturday morning’s practice and gave an injury update on the offensive line…

Prochazka has missed time the past two seasons with knee injuries including a freshman year ACL tear that ended his campaign after being named a starter.

RHULE – YOUNG RECEIVERS CONTINUE TO DEVELOP:

Matt Rhule shared some praise for his young receiving corp after Saturday’s practice, saying that development is exciting to watch…

Nebraska coaches and players have stated the fastest players on the team are in the receiving room, including Nebraska natives Zavier Betts and Malachi Coleman.

RHULE – CREATING WINNING CULTURE:

Matt Rhule, Nebraska Football Head Coach wrapped his first week of fall camp after Saturday morning’s practice and stated to the media after he’s happy to see how the culture is fitting in…

LOPER FOOTBALL BEGINS FALL CAMP:

UNK is set to begin their 2023 football season today as players, coaches, and staff have reported over the weekend and begin their first practice session this morning.

The Lopers currently have three scrimmages scheduled, including Saturday, Aug. 12, Tuesday, Aug. 15, and Wednesday, Aug. 23.

Ryan Held leads the team in his first year at the helm after taking over for recently departed Head Coach Josh Lynn, as the former coach left to become the head coach at West Texas.

UNK was voted tied for fifth in the MIAA Preseason Coaches’ Poll, as well as sixth in the media poll.

HUSKER BASKETBALL ADDS FORMER BALL STATE GUARD:

An all-conference point guard is joining the Nebraska men’s basketball team for the 2023-24 season. Jarron “Boogie” Coleman announced his commitment to the Huskers on Sunday afternoon.

Coleman is a sixth-year senior, who most recently played at Ball State. He started all 30 games for the Cardinals last year while averaging 14 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists. He also played one season at Missouri.

Coleman is a 6-foot-5, 210-pound point guard. His commitment to Nebraska comes in the wake of current Husker Ahron Ulis’s alleged sports betting probe.

NEBRASKA MBB WRAPS SPAIN TRIP WITH VICTORY:

Freshman Eli Rice had 16 points to lead six players in double figures as Nebraska wrapped up its Spain trip with an 82-62 win over the Barcelona All-Stars Saturday night.

Rice hit 6-of-8 shots from the floor, including 3 of 5 from 3-point range, and finished the trip averaging 16.0 ppg on nearly 50 percent shooting to help the Huskers to a 3-0 mark.

The Huskers return back to Lincoln today.

USWNT FALLS TO SWEDEN; EARLIEST EXIT IN WOMEN’S WORLD CUP HISTORY:

The United States played its best game of this Women’s World Cup and it wasn’t good enough to stop the two-time reigning champions from being eliminated in the round of 16.

The Americans’ bid to win an unprecedented third consecutive title ended Sunday on penalty kicks. It is the earliest exit in tournament history for the United States, four-time winners of the World Cup.

Megan Rapinoe, Sophia Smith and Kelley O’Hara missed with kicks from the penalty spot before Lina Hurtig converted to clinch the shootout 5-4 as Sweden knocked the United States out of the World Cup after a scoreless draw in regulation and extra time.

Sweden goes on to the quarterfinals to play Japan, which beat Norway 3-1 on Saturday night.
