NEBRASKA FOOTBALL UNVEILS FIRST SINGLE DIGIT JERSEY RECIPIENTS:

Nebraska football has a new tradition this fall.

First year Head Coach Matt Rhule has installed a new toughness meter in the form of single digit jersey numbers. The single digit uniforms, numbered zero through nine, will now be voted on by the team to the ten “toughest” members of the Big Red.

The first players with single-digit jerseys were unveiled Wednesday.

Senior wide receiver Billy Kemp IV picked the No. 1, safety Isaac Gifford is wearing No. 2, Luke Reimer is wearing No. 4 and quarterback Jeff Sims is wearing No. 7.

The honor is voted on by the team. More on this story at KGFW.com.

REPORT: BIG TEN TITLE COULD MOVE AWAY FROM INDIANAPOLIS:

The home of the Big Ten Conference Football Championship may no longer be solely Indianapolis.

Des Moines-based radio show “Miller and Condon” reports that future Big Ten title games will be played at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.

The move is not expected to make Las Vegas the permanent home of the game, with games rotating back to Indianapolis.

The Big Ten Championship has been played at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis since its inception in 2011. The league is coming up on the second year of a three year deal with Lucas Oil Stadium.

Beginning in 2024, the top two teams in the league standings will face off for the conference title.

RAIOLA – LINEMAN NEED TO UNDERSTAND STANDARD TO IMPROVE:

Matt Rhule has installed a new “standard” for the Nebraska Football team, and offensive line coach Donovan Raiola has been adamant with his lineman that if they improve, so do the Huskers…

Nebraska opens their season on August 31 on a Thursday night against Minnesota.

HUSKER HOOPS OFFICIALLY ADD FORMER BALL STATE GUARD COLEMAN:

The Nebraska men’s basketball program added another important backcourt piece with size and experience, as Jarron “Boogie” Coleman signed to play with the Huskers for the 2023-24 season.

Coleman, a 6-5, 210-pound guard from Indianapolis, Ind., has started 86 games and totaled more than 1,100 points, 325 assists and 450 rebounds in his college career, which includes stints at Ball State and Missouri.

Coleman earned second-team All-Mid-American Conference honors as Ball State posted a 20-12 record last season.

The former Cardinal guard will have one year of eligibility remaining.

FORMER HUSKER WRESTLER NAMED ASSISTANT COACH:

Former Nebraska wrestling legend James Green has been named a full-time assistant coach for the Husker wrestling program.

A native of Brooklyn, N.Y., Green will join Manning, associate head coach Bryan Snyder and assistant coach Tervel Dlagnev ahead of the 2023-24 season.

As a Husker, the 2014 Big Ten Champion became just the second four-time All-American in school history as he placed seventh twice and third twice at NCAAs. On the professional side, he represented the United States on the World Team at the 70kg spot from 2015 to 2021, winning bronze in 2015 and silver in 2017.
