LINCOLN – The Nebraska volleyball team begins its 2023 campaign with the annual Red-White Scrimmage on Saturday, Aug. 19 at 6 p.m. at the Bob Devaney Sports Center.
• The match will be streamed online at B1G+ (BigTenPlus.com, subscription required). The Huskers Radio Network will broadcast all the action on their radio affiliates, including 107.3 FM in Lincoln and AM 590 in Omaha. A live audio stream will be provided at Huskers.com and on the Huskers app. John Baylor is in his 30th season doing play-by-play for the Husker volleyball program. Lauren (Cook) West, a former All-America setter for the Huskers, will provide color commentary.• Prior to the match, the Huskers will have a Volleyball Fan Day on Saturday from 10 a.m. until Noon on the Devaney Center concourse. The Husker players and coaches will sign autographs for two hours before turning their attention to preparing for the scrimmage. • For Fan Day, one item per person may be signed. Posters for the 2023 season will be available at the autograph tables. In an effort to get all fans through the line, no pictures will be permitted with the coaches and players. Fans will use only the North doors to enter the building. The North doors will open right at 10 a.m. Parking will be available in Lots 58 and 60. Concessions will be open for fans to purchase drinks or candy, and the Huskers Store on the concourse will be open for fans to shop.
PARKING AND TRAFFIC INFORMATION FOR RED-WHITE• Please plan to arrive early with road construction at the intersection of Antelope Valley Parkway and Salt Creek Roadway. A left turn lane, a right turn lane, and one through lane in each direction will be open for vehicle traffic at the intersection of Antelope Valley Parkway and Salt Creek Roadway. Please review the City of Lincoln’s Street Closure Map to plan your path to the Devaney Center.• For the Red-White Scrimmage only, all lots are first-come, first-served public parking for $8. Fans can purchase parking passes in advance through UNL Parking & Transit Services.
MOBILE TICKETING• Mobile tickets can be accessed via a Huskers ticket account on a web browser or through the Nebraska Huskers mobile app. To save time at the venue, fans are encouraged to save tickets and parking to their Apple Wallet or Google Pay apps prior to arrival on game day.
HUSKERS RANKED NO. 5 IN AVCA PRESEASON POLL• Nebraska is ranked in a tie for fifth in the preseason AVCA Coaches Poll. • The Huskers have been ranked in the top 10 a total of 543 times, which is also the most in NCAA history.• Nebraska has appeared in all 604 AVCA Coaches Polls it has been eligible for since it was established in 1982. AVCA HALL OF FAMER JOHN COOK IN 24TH SEASON AT NEBRASKA• Nebraska head coach John Cook is in his 24th season as the Nebraska volleyball head coach in 2023. He has led the Huskers to four national championships, 10 final fours, 12 conference championships and 21 top-10 final rankings since 2000. • Cook has 817 career wins and is one of the all-time winningest coaches in NCAA history. Since taking over the program in 2000, Cook has led the Huskers to a nation-leading .870 win percentage (656-98). • Under Cook, the Huskers have achieved 64 AVCA All-Americans and 20 CoSIDA Academic All-Americans, both among the best in the nation. He is a two-time AVCA National Coach of the Year, earning the prestigious honor in 2000 and 2005, and a seven-time conference coach of the year, including Big Ten Coach of the Year in 2016 and 2017, his first and second Big Ten honors with the Huskers in their Big Ten era (2011-present).• Cook is one of only two active coaches – and one of six all-time – to be a two-time AVCA National Coach of the Year and was honored in 2008 by USA Volleyball, receiving its All-Time Great Coach Award.• Cook was inducted into the AVCA Hall of Fame in 2017, joining former Husker volleyball coach Terry Pettit in the hall.
