LINCOLN – The Lincoln Public School district announcement regarding the postponement of all Tuesday and Wednesday athletic competitions have trickled to affect the Kearney Softball program.
The Bearcats were scheduled to compete at Lincoln Northeast facing the Rockets at the Doris Blair Softball Complex on Wednesday, Aug. 23. That contest has now been moved to Monday, Aug. 28 at the same location with the varsity contest scheduled for a 5 PM first pitch.
Following the NSAA guidelines, the forecasted Wet Bulb Globe Temperature for those days is too high to safely hold contests for all involved.
The heat wave is expected to subside enough by the end of the week that most football season openers should not be significantly affected.
Kearney Football plays Lincoln East at UNK’s Ron & Carol Cope Stadium on Friday night.
