HASTINGS – The Hastings College Women’s soccer team notched in at No. 19 in the latest NAIA Top 25 on Wednesday.
The polls were released prior to the Broncos first loss of the season at Briar Cliff.
William Carey (Miss.) continued to hold the No. 1 spot in the fourth NAIA Women’s Soccer Coaches’ Top 25 Rating, as Spring Arbor (Mich.) occupied the No. 2 spot for the third straight week. There was some shake-up at No. 4 and No. 5, as Aquinas (Mich.) and Columbia (Mo.) vaulted their way into the top five for the first time this season. St. Thomas (Fla.) also clawed their way into the rankings for the first time this season sitting at No. 25.
Rating Methodology
- The rating was rated by a panel of head coaches representing each of the conferences, Continental Athletic Conference (Independents), and Unaffiliated Groups.
- The Top 25 is determined by a points system based on how each voter ranks the best teams. A team receives 30 points for each first-place vote, 29 for second place, and so on through the list.
- The highest and lowest ranking for each team (a non-rating is considered a low rating) is removed and the team’s ranking will be recalculated with an additional point added to each team for every ballot (including discounted ballots) that the teams appears on.
- Teams that receive only one point in the ballot are not considered “receiving votes.”
