ELWOOD — Elwood Public School will be hosting a Community Engagement session to identify and address priorities and needs to support and grow learning for their students.

In a letter to parents and community members, it states that the Elwood Board of Education and Administrative Leadership team, “will embark on the process of stakeholder engagement.”

“Effective community engagement involves key stakeholders working collaboratively to build consensus. A critical component of the process is to ensure a diverse representation of community and district stakeholders are empowered to share their personal perspectives, thoughts and ideas in relationship to education in the Elwood Public Schools district,” the letter stated.

Some of the key points include:

  • Identify challenges that may impact the district in the next three to five years
  • Identify the knowledge and skills a student should possess as a graduate of the district
  • What more can the district do to attract students and families to the area to grow enrollment
  • How can the board and district improve communication to inform patrons of the district’s needs and priorities.

The meeting will be held Thursday, Oct. 26 at the Elwood School gymnasium. The meeting will start at 7 p.m.

Attendants are asked to contact Superintendent Daren Hatch at feedback@elwoodpirates.org to confirm your availability and interest in participating.

“We look forward to working collaboratively with you as we embark upon this most exciting endeavor to assist in shaping the future of Elwood Public School,” the district’s letter stated, “Working together we can strengthen our students’ learning experience and success. On behalf of the students of our community, we appreciate your contribution to this and other school support initiatives.”
