The Hastings Tigers ran into a buzz saw Friday night at Waverly where the Vikings, unbeaten and seeded No. 2 in the Class B playoffs, had their way, 45-21.
Waverly marched in on its first offensive possession of the game and never looked back, scoring a field goal for a 10-0 lead after one.
Hastings struck back, 10-7, but Waverly answered on a long scoring pass with 49 ticks left on the first-half clock.
It was 17-7 at halftime.
Three touchdowns in the third left the matter in little doubt with the Vikings up 38-7 with only the fourth quarter to play. In that period the Tigers doubled-up the Vikings 14-7 to forge the final score.
Hastings concludes the season with a mark of 7-4. The Vikings remain unbeaten at 11-0.
