KEARNEY – The Tri-City Storm returns home to the Viaero Center this weekend to host the Waterloo Black Hawks in back-to-back games following four consecutive road games. Tonight’s game will be the first home game for the Storm since the team hosted the Dubuque Fighting Saints at the Viaero Center on Saturday, October 21st. Ticket specials for tonight’s matchup include a $5 Kids’ Friday presented by Big Apple Fun Center in Kearney. Tickets for Friday’s game at the Viaero Center are still available and can be purchased by skating to www.StormHockey.com, or by contacting a member of the Storm sales staff through the Viaero Center Box Office. Tri-City (7-6-1-0) has dropped its last five games entering this weekend’s home series against Waterloo. The Storm has produced a 5-2-0-0 record against Western Conference competition this season. Tri-City’s most recent game against a team from the USHL’s Western Conference was a 4-1 victory over the Sioux Falls Stampede on Friday, October 20th at the Viaero Center. Tri-City plays eight of its next ten games on home ice following a stretch of playing seven out of the last nine games on the road. The Storm is 9-10-4-0 in head-to-head battles against the Black Hawks over the last five seasons. Scoring leaders for Tri-City entering tonight’s home game against Waterloo include August Falloon (8), Nolan Roed (5), Trevor Connelly (4), Owen Beckner (4), Ryan Smith (4), Cam Briere (4), and Artemi Nizameyev (3).  

Waterloo (6-5-0-0) has played the least amount of games of any team in the USHL to this point in the 2023-2024 regular season entering tonight’s road matchup against Tri-City. The Black Hawks also hold a 6-5-0-0 record in road games played against the Storm over the last five years. Waterloo defeated the Muskegon Lumberjacks by a final score of 8-2 at Young Arena last Saturday night in the teams’ only game of the weekend. The Black Hawks have not faced a Western Conference opponent on the road in over a month. Waterloo’s last road game against a team from the Western Conference was on Saturday, October 7th in a 7-4 loss to the Sioux Falls Stampede at the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center. Scoring leaders for Waterloo entering tonight’s game include John Mustard (7), Gavin Lindberg (4), Adam Zlinka (4), Jakub Altrichter (3), Tyler Miller (3), and Jaedon Kerr (3).  

The Storm will play host to the Black Hawks again tomorrow night for the organization’s annual “Military Appreciation Night” presented by the Nebraska Warriors. Tri-City will wear specialty sweaters during the event that will be auctioned off following the matchup. Proceeds from the auction will benefit the Nebraska Warriors.
