FREMONT – The Hastings College men’s wrestling team picked up its first dual victory of the season and its first conference win of the year by defeating Midland 35-18 on Thursday night inside the Wikert Event Center.
The Broncos jumped out to a quick 12-0 lead with two forfeits at 125 and 133 and then the Warriors picked up a pin at 141 to make it 12-6.
Then Hastings took over the dual as Jack Morton (149) defeated Zion Amerson in an exciting match 7-6 to give HC a 15-6 lead. Alex Alcala picked up a forfeit win followed by a Jake Patterson (165) 17-1 tech fall victory over Jabez Anderson. Hastings then moved the lead to 32-6 when Naim Abualjubain (174) defeated Alex Mainor due to an injury
The Warriors then picked up wins at 184 and 197 before Matheson Rodriquez (285) picked up a 4-1 win over Ryan Kocovsky as the Broncos came away with the 35-18 victory.
Hastings is now 1-3 (1-2) on the year and will be back in action Friday Dec. 15 hitting the road to take part in the Benedictine Duals down in Atchison, KS.
