LITCHFIELD — On Dec. 6, 2023, at 12:23 a.m., the Sherman County Sheriff’s Office responded to a two-vehicle accident about two and a half miles west of Litchfield, on Highway 2.
A 2024 black Chevy Silverado pickup traveling westbound collided with a U-Haul cargo truck traveling eastbound. Christian Marquez Taylor, age 19, of Coushatta, La., a passenger of the U-Haul, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The two other occupants of the U-Haul were transported to Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney. The 2024 Black Chevy Silverado driver was transported to Kearney Regional Hospital in Kearney.
No further information will be given as the investigation is ongoing. The Nebraska State Patrol is assisting the Sherman County Sheriff’s Office.
The Sherman County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Litchfield, Ansley, Mason City Fire and Rescue, AirCare ambulance service out of Kearney, Custer County Sheriff’s Office, and Kearney Towing.
