HASTINGS — The Hastings Public Library is bringing back the annual Winter Reading Program Dec. 20, 2023 through Jan. 12 2024.
The program is a 24-day reading challenge with the theme “Game On!” to ring in 2024 and celebrate the upcoming 2024 Summer Olympics.
The program is divided into four age groups: toddlers and kids, seven and younger; tweens, 8-12; teens, 13-17 and adults, 18 and older. Each group has a reading goal and will earn them Olympic Ring buttons and a medal made in the Makerspace, as well as a ticket into a grand prize drawing.
There are two grand prizes available for each age group. There is also a bonus badge that can be earned for an extra ticket in the grand prize drawings.
There will also be fun passive programs available to do at the library throughout the Winter Reading Program, including scavenger hunts, bingo sheets, word hunts, I Spy boards, giant word searches and more. The bingo sheet and word hunts will offer completion prizes.
Registration opens Dec. 20 and the grand prize winners will be drawn Jan. 15. Registration can be completed online, through the beanstalk app, or in person at the Second flood Children’s Deks.
