KEARNEY — The Kearney Area Community Foundation recently awarded a total of $40,000 in Arthur Klinkacek Community Enrichment Grants to three local nonprofits.

  • $20,000 was awarded to Crossroads Center Inc. to renovate their kitchen into a commercial kitchen as a part of the Kearney Crossroads Mission Avenue Renovation.
  • $10,000 was awarded to Elm Creek Public Schools for their agricultural education program to build a greenhouse.
  • $10,000 was awarded to Museum of Nebraska Art to build an interactive gallery that provides a safe and welcoming environment for learners to engage and explore art related topics.

The Arthur Klinkacek Community Enrichment Fund was started after Arthur E. Klinkacek left a gift of more than $2 million to the Kearney Area Community Foundation from his estate to help communities and youth in the Kearney area for years to come.

The Arthur Klinkacek Community Enrichment Fund typically grants funds to projects or programs in the Kearney area and surrounding communities. Grants are made to nonprofit, federally tax-exempt 501(c)(3) qualified organizations, or organizations delivering a project or program which have a fiscal relationship with a qualified charity.

The Arthur Klinkacek Community Enrichment Fund’s grant cycle is biannual with deadlines of April 15
and October 15. To view guidelines, pre-apply or for more information, please visit
