KEARNEY – One of the more talented running backs in the state of Nebraska from the 2019 high school football season is set to re-unite with a former running backs coach from the Husker Football program in Kearney.

Former Nebraska Football running back Isaiah Harris announced his transfer to the University of Nebraska-Kearney Loper Football program yesterday. Harris did not appear in a contest the past three seasons for the Huskers, but was honored in 2022 as an Academic All-Big Ten selection.

Harris was one of the state’s top playmakers during his career at Millard South High School, finishing with 3,468 rushing yards and 52 touchdowns. Harris was also the Class A leader in rushing yards through the regular season in 2019, garnering 1,859 rushing yards and 27 touchdowns. At the time, he chose Nebraska over scholarship offers from North Dakota and other Division II programs.

Harris and current UNK Football head coach Ryan Held first crossed paths at Nebraska, as Held was the running backs coach and recruiting coordinator for the Huskers from 2018-2021.
