MINDEN – A Whippet will turn to a Demon Deacon come next fall.
Minden’s Jake Ryan officially signed pen to paper on Wednesday, confirming his intention to join the Wake Forest football program as a preferred walk-on.
Ryan was a standout varsity player for the Whippets the past three seasons. Offensively as a senior, Ryan led the way as the team’s quarterback finishing with 741 passing yards and six touchdowns. He also ended with 977 career rushing yards and eleven rushing scores. As a junior, the versatile athlete contributed 22 receptions for 259 yards and two scores. He proved to be a dynamic kick returner as well his junior year, having 379 total return yards.
Ryan anticipates playing safety in North Carolina at Wake Forest. Defensively, Ryan ended his career with 42 total tackles, two tackles for loss, and an interception.
