KEARNEY — Republican Mayor of Kearney Stan Clouse officially filed his candidacy to represent Legislative District 37 in the Nebraska Unicameral. District 37 represents the Buffalo County communities of Kearney, Gibbon, and Shelton.
“While I have been campaigning for a few months I’m excited to officially file my candidacy for the Nebraska Legislature,” said Clouse. “it’s been an honor to serve as the Mayor of Kearney and I’m proud of the over $1 billion in economic development we’ve delivered while maintaining the lowest municipal property tax levy of any Class I city. I look forward to campaigning hard to earn support across District 37 and will continue to be a strong, conservative voice for our communities in Lincoln.”
During his time as Mayor, Clouse has helped deliver many valuable economic development projects including the Central Nebraska Veterans Home, Tech oNE Crossing, Patriot Park, Cherry Avenue Interchange, and the Kearney SportsPlex.
District 37 is an open seat in the Unicameral as current Senator John Lowe is term-limited from running again.
Clouse has served as the Mayor of Kearney since 2006 and recently retired from the Nebraska Public Power District after a 45+-year career. In addition to his official public service Stan is heavily involved in the Kearney community including involvement in Rotary International, Leadership Kearney, Kearney Chamber, Buffalo County Economic Development Council, Nebraska Veterans First, Leadership Nebraska, and more. Stan, and his wife LaVon, attend and volunteer at New Life Church in Kearney.
