OMAHA, NE. – Nebraska Republican U.S. Senator Pete Ricketts announced his filing Tuesday to run for office to complete his term in the Senate.
Ricketts filed with the Nebraska Secretary of States office to appear on the ballot in the May Primary Election according to his campaign press release.
It was in January last year that Ricketts was appointed to the senate seat by Gov. Jim Pillen after it was vacated by former Sen. Ben Sasse. Sasse left the seat to take a up his new position as President of the University of Florida.
Sen. Ricketts stated in a release “The opportunity to continue serving Nebraskans has been an incredible honor and privilege.”
In addition to Ricketts running, Omaha Democrat Preston Love announced his candidacy for the seat Wednesday.
