KEARNEY — The SECURE protocol at Meadowlark Elementary and Sunrise Middle School that was put in place on Monday morning has been lifted.
The Kearney Police Department indicated to Kearney Public Schools that there is no longer a threat.
Kearney Police stated that they continue to investigate this as a child custody dispute. “We are not attempting to locate anyone related to this case,” the KPD stated.
School is resuming as normal, per the KPS.
The “Secure” protocol is activated when there is a community threat outside of our school building that could lead to the endangerment of our students and/or staff.
The protocol was initiated today due to a potential threat from a parent.
