Hector Tarango, 44, of 1809 N. Grand Island police served a search warrant regarding a Humane Society matter at the home on Feb. 1. During the search, marijuana was found in plain sight, according to a Grand Island Police Department news release. Police located multiple containers of methamphetamine and marijuana. A total amount of 78.4 grams of marijuana and 5.6 grams of methamphetamine were found in the home.
“Inside the home, animal feces and urine saturated the walking surfaces, ad at least two stray cats and several other house pets were living inside,” the news release said. Two small children were in the house when the search warrant was served. There were three other older school-age children not at the residence who were taken into 48-hour hold with the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services, along with the two young children at the residence.
“The residence was determined to be unsanitary and unsafe for a child,” the police news release said.
