KEARNEY — A Buffalo County Sheriff’s Office deputy was involved in a motor vehicle accident during the morning hours of Friday, Feb. 2.
Around 11 a.m., an on-duty deputy sheriff was involved in a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of 56th St. and Ave. N in Kearney.
The preliminary investigation revealed the 61-year-old male deputy, while operating a marked sheriff’s office vehicle, was traveling eastbound on 56th St.
The other vehicle was being driven by a 29-year-old female and was northbound on Ave. N, turning westbound onto 56th St. at the time of the collision.
It was noted that the deputy sheriff is a 33-year veteran with the Buffalo County Sheriff’s Office.
Both drivers were transported to CHI Health Good Samaritan Hospital for medical treatment. The deputy was treated and released for minor injuries sustained during the crash.
“We expect a full recovery and return to duty. On behalf of the Buffalo County Sheriff’s Office, our thoughts and concern remain with the other driver and her continued recovery,” the office stated.
The Nebraska State Patrol is investigating the collision.
