Tri-City Storm

KEARNEY – The Tri-City Storm posted a 4-1 win over the Sioux City Musketeers Friday night at the Viaero Center to improve to 24-17-4-4 on the 2023-2024 regular season. August Falloon (2), Carmelo Crandell, and Trevor Connelly netted goals for the Storm in the victory. Cameron Korpi recorded his 22nd win of the season in goal for the Storm. Tri-City returns to action tomorrow night at the Viaero Center in the organization’s annual “Puck’s N’ Paws” Night presented by PetSmart of Kearney. Puck drop for the game is scheduled for 6:05pm CT.

Ethan Gardula netted the only goal of Friday’s opening period to give the Musketeers a 1-0 lead in the matchup. The goal was his thirteenth of the season, and was scored with less than five minutes to play in the period. Cole Tuminaro and Hagen Burrows each collected an assist on the scoring play. Tri-City outshot Sioux City by an 11-10 margin during Friday’s 1st period, but trailed by one goal entering the 2nd period.

The only goal of the middle period was scored less than two minutes into the period by August Falloon. Falloon’s goal was his twelfth of the year, and was assisted by Cooper Simpson. The Storm outshot the Musketeers by a 15-7 margin during Friday’s 2nd period, and the 3rd period began in a 1-1 tie.

August Falloon scored his second goal of the game, and thirteenth goal of the season at 2:01 of Friday’s 3rd period to give Tri-City a one-goal lead in the matchup. The goal was netted on the powerplay, and was assisted by Vladislav Lukashevich. Carmelo Crandell netted his sixth goal of the year twenty-seven seconds later to give the Storm a 3-1 advantage in the battle. The goal was assisted by Zach Bade and Blake Steenerson. Trevor Connelly scored his team-leading 23rd goal of the season into an empty net with less than two minutes to play to secure the Storm’s three-goal victory. Shaun McEwen collected an assist on the goal. Tri-City outshot Sioux City 15-8 during the 3rd period, and 41-35 overall in the game. The Storm improved to 2-2-1-1 in head-to-head games against the Musketeers this season in the three-goal victory at the Viaero Center.

Cameron Korpi collected the win in net for Tri-City in a 24-save-on-25-shot effort. Samuel Urban recorded the loss in goal for Sioux City after making 37 saves on 40 shots during the contest.

The Storm hits the ice again on Saturday, March 9th, in a home game against the Sioux City Musketeers. Puck drop for the matchup is scheduled for 6:05pm CT.
