Grand Island transfer station to reopen yard waste site for 2024 season

GRAND ISLAND — The City of Grand Island Transfer Station will be reopening the Yard Waste Site to the public beginning Monday, April 1.

Grass, leaves, tree limbs and branches will be accepted at no charge to Grand Island residents. The entrance to the Yard Waste Site is located on Monitor Road, which is east of the Transfer Station property, which is located at 5050 West Old Potash Highway.

Restrictions

Yard waste must be clean of waste and debris and must be emptied from garbage bags at the time of disposal. Customers delivering yard waste must ensure that loads are properly secured to prevent littering along the roadways. Free disposal of yard waste is only for homeowners and renters in Grand Island, not contractors for hire.

Hours of Operation

The Yard Waste Site will be open to the public on Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
